Here is the transcript of Art and Maggie's interview with Officer John Monaghan for the Oxygen show (The Disappearance of Maura Murray). It was released by the New Hampshire Cold Case Unit as a result of a public “Right-to-Know” request submitted earlier this year. Interestingly, there was no redacting of the transcript.
It was the state’s attorneys (not me) that ultimately decided the public has the “right-to-know” this information. And I think that’s a good thing; the more information that’s out there, the more likely it is that someone is able to connect the dots, or that some tidbit or detail is able to find its way to someone who might know something.
That said, I have to admit that it feels a little strange to essentially be posting someone else’s (namely, Art, Maggie, and the Texas Crew’s) work. So I want to again acknowledge how transformative the show has been to the case (most recently with Maggie’s GoFundMe initiative to fund ground penetrating radar, searches, rewards, etc.). After thirteen years, the show was able to get law enforcement officials to open up and discuss the case publicly. It is thanks to their effort that we have this information at all.
Note: Ethan and I discuss a portion of Monaghan's interview in Episode 10 ("The Timeline") and Episode 11 ("The 911 Call Transcripts"), available iTunes and YouTube.
