This is the transcript of Art and Maggie’s interview with former Haverhill, NH police officer, Cecil Smith, which was obtained via a public “Right-to-Know” request to NH’s Cold Case Unit. This is only my opinion, but I think there are a few things to keep in mind before reading Smith’s interview transcript. First, the interview was conducted thirteen years after Maura’s disappearance. I think it would be unreasonable to expect anyone’s memory about any event to be perfect after more than a decade has passed. Moreover, during the interview, Smith admits that he was aware of the rumors and theories regarding Witness A’s sighting of SUV #001 on scene that night. Again, this is speculative, but I suspect he walked into the interview fully prepared and with the expectation that he would be asked to answer questions on that topic.
